Liquid flooring systems are generally composed of two coats or more. The first coat acts as a primer for the second layer, finishing coat, or any additional layer.

The other important factor to understand is the correlation between the pot life (the time you have to install the product after catalyzing it and before it gels) and the curing time needed for the product to allowing you to add another layer. Therefore, the faster the product cures and allows for a quick overlay, the faster the overall installation will be.
This is why you will often see one manufacturer offer several versions of the same product with longer or shorter curing time. Options with longer curing times allows for larger areas to be covered within the mandated installation time with less labour.
Quick-Drying products will allow for spontaneous repairs in a much shorter time frame (waiting times between layers are generally +/- 12 hours for regular products and +/- 2 hours for fast-setting products), thereby minimizing downtime by allowing you to complete multiple coats within a day.
Important note: It is also possible to build floor coatings with quick-drying products on smaller surfaces, but larger installation crews will be required to comply with the faster pot life.
